History of Sport at the University of Edinburgh

Dear University of Edinburgh Graduate,

As part of the 160th anniversary of the Edinburgh University Sports Union, we are preparing an updated History of Sport at the University of Edinburgh, last published in 1966.

While we are fortunate to have access to extensive archives dating back to the 1800s, we are currently facing some gaps in our more recent records, particularly regarding the names of club officials between 2010 and 2022.

This is where you can help!

Please click on your sport (or any sport you have information about) and, for the relevant years, add the names and click “Submit.” If you spot an error, you can suggest a correction using the Correction Request column (for example: “MacTernan should be spelt ‘McTernan’”).

We are especially interested in the names of Club Presidents (or Captains) and Secretaries. We recognise that different clubs may use varying titles, so we have also included fields for Vice-Presidents, Treasurers, Men’s Captain, Women’s Captain, and other roles.
